Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday said it would allow Epic Games Inc., Amazon.com Inc. and other firms to integrate their own app stores into the technology giant’s market. This will give third-party developers more options.
When the app manages its own in-app payment system, there will be no deductions or commissions from the app developers’ revenue, according to Reuters, a company based in Redmond, Washington.
“Microsoft has taken the industry forward with Windows, now an open store with an open platform,” tweeted Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games.
The move comes after Epic Games and Apple Inc. became embroiled in a legal dispute last year when Fortnite makers tried to get Apple’s 30 percent commission fee by setting up their own in-app purchase payment system for some in-app purchases in Apple’s App Store. Agency
